About Us
Having had a passion for food for more years that I can remember, I found myself single and wanting to get away. There had been many opportunities, but I always put it off because I wanted someone to share the experience with. I finally realized that I was missing countless oppoertunities waiting for a companion, so I began looking for a travel adventure. Being a Food NetworkTM junkie, I remembered seeing snippets of two different stories, one about a vanilla festival in Mexico and another about chocolate stores in Mexico. Like I said, I was single and I knew that one way to a woman's heart was chocolate. I started searching out chocolate vacations. Finally I came across the Food of the Gods Festival -- now called A Taste of Oaxaca -- in Oaxaca ( pronounced wa-HA-ka ) Mexico. I didn't even know how to say Oaxaca, I didn't speak a word of Spanish, I didn't know a soul going on the trip; but I decided I was going to do it and I was going to have fun! The Food of the Gods Festival was a week-long culinary tour of Oaxaca, Mexico. Oaxaca is Mexico's most complete tourist destination, located in the mountains of southern Mexico. In the state of Oaxaca are beaches, mountains, forests and valleys; precolombian archiological sites, colonial archatectire and food! AMAZING delicious, complex food and that is what I went for. I spent a week meeting some amazing people, learning how to cook some truly authentic Mexican dishes and getting to know a city I have come to love. Site design by PERFECT i-site |
The story of chocolate is thousands of years old -steeped in tradition and mythic lore - some might even say our founder is the same (except for the steeping part). Walt Lewis has a passion for chocolate - a passion inspired by a trip to Mexico and a discovery even the Spaniards couldn't resist. Read on - it's a fascinating personal voyage of chocolate discovery.
